A Moment in Time

I spent the majority of this afternoon inside practicing the drums, which I haven't done in a long while. When I stepped outside in the evening to check the mailbox, it was very humid but there was a nice firm breeze and all the plants and trees along my walk were blowing around. I stood there for a brief moment longer than I had planned to. It was the kind of moment in which you remember that you're actually on the earth, right now, and outer space is out there. And here you have the wind and the sky and the trees and everything else, and you are very aware that you won't have it forever. And suddenly it is as if everything that will happen has already happened, and you are already gone.

Tracking Shots of Mister Buddles (A Tribute)

Mister Buddles has moved out and is currently living in Buffalo. He will be returning to Chicago (thank God) in September. I made this video a few years ago to practice homemade dolly shots. Upon reviewing the footage, I realized it has a life of its own. Now seems like the right time to post it--as a tribute to his spirit, which is an incredible balance of tenderness and toughness. He has really inspired, comforted and humbled me over the last few years.
